Transave Credit Union invites you to attend a members’ Special General Meeting (SGM) on Thursday 21^st March 2024 @ 09.00am

The Agenda will only include the following item:

A proposal to change the credit union’s Rule 7 (Common Bonds) to allow a wider and more diverse membership.

Please take a couple of minutes to read through this email, so you understand how to join the meeting & take part.

We will be using the GoTo Webinar platform for the meeting, hosted by ABCUL, the Association of British Credit Unions. ABCUL have hosted several AGMs & SGM’s for Transave and other credit unions across the UK, so everything is tried and tested!

The precise wording of the board proposal is as follows:

The board of Transave Credit Union Ltd. Propose a change to Rule 7 of the Rulebook.

So that, if approved by at least two-thirds of those members in attendance at this meeting, the existing Rule 7 shall be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following wording, so that the amended rule shall then read:

“ Rule 7 – Common bond qualification for membership 

Admission to membership of the credit union is restricted to:

7             (1) An individual who follows an occupation in any of the following groups of the Office of National Statistics Occupational Classification:

(2) A Corporate body, an individual in his/her capacity as a partner in a partnership, an individual in his/her capacity as an officer or a member of the governing body of an unincorporated association, if the principal business of the body corporate, partnership, or unincorporated association:

-Requires it to employ or otherwise engage persons who follow any of the above occupations.

– Relates to any of the above occupations or employment in the following way: Is a trades union section or branch for persons who follow any of the above occupations.

3) Being a member of a bona fide organisation or being otherwise associated with other members of the society for a purpose other than that of forming a society to be registered as a credit union.

-an individual who is associated with other members through receiving a pension from an employer, whose principal business requires it to employ or otherwise engage persons who follow any of the above occupations.

(4) An individual who is a member of the same household as, and is a relative of, an individual who is a member of the credit union and falls directly within a common bond specified above”.
