Whether it’s being hit by an unexpected bill or you have a big purchase in mind - such as a replacement car, home improvements or a holiday - there are times when we could all do with some extra money. That’s where TransaveUK can help by providing access to a low cost personal loan.

Borrowing From The Credit Union

We offer loans of up to £15,000. You can apply for a loan after you have saved with TransaveUK for a period of four weeks. The success of the loan application is simply based upon your ability to afford repayments and your savings record. Unlike other lenders we do not simply rely on credit scores or automatically reject your application if you have had financial problems. Equally, we will not encourage you to borrow more than you need or can afford.

We also pride ourselves on our friendly, sympathetic approach and it’s a difference our members really like. It means when you talk to TransaveUK, you will always deal with a real person – someone who will listen carefully and help you as much as they can.

28 day rule

As part of our commitment to being a responsible lender, once a member has successfully applied for a loan, no further loans will be granted against that account for at least 28 days. If the member has a proven emergency, backed up with documented evidence, then the Board may consider an emergency application within the 28 days since the loan was granted.

*APR stands for Annual Percentage Rate. This is the official regulatory way of comparing credit deals. The APR takes into account all charges and interest connected with the loan and therefore compares ‘like for like’. As a general guide, the lower the APR, the better.

Applying for a loan

Once you have saved regularly with TransaveUK for four weeks, you can apply for a loan for any purpose.

You can do this by completing a Loan Agreement form. This is available by phoning the TransaveUK office on 0114 243 8437, online at by logging into Online Banking within your member account and clicking on ‘Loan Applications’, or from your TransaveUK representative (if applicable). Once signed and agreed, we aim to credit the funds to your account within ten banking days. Currently, the maximum loan amount available is £15,000 and cannot exceed two-and-a-half times ( X 2.5) the amount you have in savings with TransaveUK.

FREE Death Benefit cover

It’s reassuring to know that, should you die whilst a member of TransaveUK, we provide FREE Death Benefit cover that will fully repay most outstanding TransaveUK loans. In addition, a lump sum Funeral Grant and the member’s savings balance at the time of death, will be paid to your nominated Next of Kin.
